Machan just came back from a trail run in Knuckles – few rock climbs and muddy sections. Now the steering feels really tight when turning, especially at low speed. No oil leak or visible issue. Could it be mud jammed or pump ekata problem ekak wage? Anyone faced this?

Mcn my friend just bought his first Defender (TD5). He want to do basic stuff like oil changes, brake pads, greasing, etc. What tools should buy to start a small home setup?

I'm doing a frame-up rebuild on my dad's old Series III 88".

Need help finding:
  • Original body panels
  • Dash components
  • Window frames
  • Possibly a working 2.25L petrol engine

Any shops or collectors who have rare Defender/Series parts?

Mcn Riverston is a must-do trail for Defender lovers Here's what you need to know

Road from Matale to Riverston Tower is mix of tarmac and gravel. Steep final stretch, but manageable in 2H unless it rains.

If heading to Pitawala Pathana or Sera Ella no major off-roading needed, but narrow roads.

Engage low-range if it rains near the tower — rocks get slippery. Bring tow rope, compressor, and a good jack just in case.

Camping
We used:
📍 Knuckles Base Camp (Walpola Rd)

They allow Defender parking tent setup. Good clean toilets too.

📸 Take drone footage if you can — sunrise there is insane!

Hi machan, I'm planning a weekend ride with some friends to Riverston side (Knuckles area). We have two Defenders — one 90, one 110 (both 300Tdi). Want to know:

How's the road condition?

Do we need low-range anywhere?

Best campsite or place to park overnight?

Machan this is a classic Defender electrical gremlin Happened to me in my 110. Here's what I checked and fixed

Dash light dimmer switch it sometimes dies silently and cuts all dash lights. Try turning it back and forth. If lights flicker, that's your issue.

Replace the dimmer or bypass it:
I bought mine at LR Motors (Pvt) Ltd

They even had a dimmer bypass plug if you want to disable it permanently.

Ground wire behind instrument cluster can also get loose or corroded clean the connectors using contact spray.

Fuse #11 or #12 (depends on your model year) – worth double checking even if it looks okay.

Aiya I'm driving a 300Tdi Defender all good but when I switch on the headlights at night, the dash lights disappear completely. Indicators and warning lights are working tho.

Anyone had this before? I checked fuse box under dash but didn't see any blown ones. Help pls

Ado, I had this exact same issue in my TD5 Defender, and it drove me mad for months It turned out to be a mix of small things that added up. Here's what you should check

Propshaft U-Joints (Cross Joints) This is usually the first suspect. The universal joints wear out and cause vibration at certain speeds. Even if there's no "clunk", the needle bearings inside might be dry or loose.
