Last post by David_Christopher - Sep 22, 2025, 10:59 AMMachang, TD5 overheating in traffic is common problem here! Our stop-go traffic worst nightmare for these engines. First check if viscous fan coupling working - should engage when hot. Also verify radiator not clogged internally despite being new. I added auxiliary electric fan with thermostat switch, made huge difference. Some guys install bigger radiator but expensive modification. Cheaper solution is quality coolant additive and make sure cooling system properly bled of air bubbles. Also consider engine remap to reduce heat generation. Prevention better than cure with TD5 engines!

Last post by David_Christopher - Sep 22, 2025, 10:58 AM සහෝදරයා, ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ තත්වයන් සඳහා අනිවාරෙන්ම rock sliders සමඟ යන්න! අපේ පාරවල් වල සැඟවුණු බාධක, ගැඹුරු කාණු, චැසියට හානි කළ හැකි කැඩුණු වේග ගැටිති එහෙම තියෙනවා. rock sliders වාහනයේ මුළු පැත්තම ආරක්ෂා කරයි. ඔව්, ඇතුළු වීමට ටිකක් අමාරුයි ඒත් ඔබ ඉක්මනින් එයට පුරුදු වෙනවා. මම අවුරුදු 2 කට කලින් ARB rock sliders සවි කළා, කොළඹ රථවාහන තදබදයේදී කාණු පාරවල් වලින් මාව දෙපාරක් බේරා ගත්තා! side steps අලංකාර කිරීම පමණි, අවම ආරක්ෂාවක් ලබා දෙන්නෙ. චැසි හානිය පසුව අලුත්වැඩියා කිරීමට වඩා නිසි ආරක්ෂාව සඳහා එක් වරක් අමතර මුදලක් වියදම් කිරීම වඩා හොඳයු

Last post by NuwanJayasinghe - Sep 17, 2025, 03:58 PMA9 අධිවේගී මාර්ගය භාවිතා කරමින් කොළඹ සිට යාපනය දක්වා වීර චාරිකාවක් සැලසුම් කරන අතර හොද ත්‍රාසජනක අත්දැකීමක් ගන්න ඩිෆෙන්ඩර් 110 රැගෙන යාමට අවශ්‍යයි. මාර්ගය සරල බව පෙනේ, නමුත් ඉන්ධන ලබා ගැනීමේ හැකියාව, මාර්ග තත්වයන්, නවාතැන් විකල්ප ගැන සැලකිලිමත් වෙන්න වෙයි කියලා හිතෙනවා. මීට පෙර කවදාවත් උතුරට එතරම් දුරක් ධාවනය කරලා නෑ. විශ්වාසදායක ඉන්ධන නැවතුම් මොනවාද කියලා දන්න කෙනෙක් කියනවාද? මොඩිෆයි කරපු 4x4 සඳහා වාහන නැවැත්වීමට පාකින් තියන හොද තැනක් තියනවාද? කිලිනොච්චියයි අවට ප්‍රදේශ ගවේෂණය කිරීමට හිතන් ඉන්නේ.

Last post by NuwanJayasinghe - Sep 17, 2025, 03:34 PMGuys, my 2003 TD5 constantly overheating in Colombo stop-go traffic. Temperature gauge climbs dangerously high during long traffic jams, especially around Slave Island and Dematagoda areas. Cooling system seems fine - replaced radiator, water pump, thermostat, all hoses. Electric fan working properly. Is this normal TD5 behavior or need upgrade? Thinking bigger radiator or auxiliary fan. Problem only happens in heavy traffic, highway driving fine. Don't want engine damage from constant overheating stress.

Last post by NuwanJayasinghe - Sep 17, 2025, 03:29 PMමචංලා, මගේ TD5 එකේ undercarriage ආරක්ෂාව වැඩි කරන්න බලාපොරොත්තු වෙනවා rock sliders එකයි simple side steps එක්ක. rock sliders පැහැදිලිවම වඩා හොඳ ආරක්ෂාවක් දෙනවා නමුත් දෙගුණයක් වැය වන අතර පවුලේ සාමාජිකයින්ට ඇතුළුවීම තරමක් අපහසුයි වගේ. side steps පිරිසිදු හා පහසු ප්‍රවේශයක් වගේ පෙනේ, නමුත් ආරක්ශාව ගැන පොඩි සැකයක් තියන්වා. මගේ වාහනේ වැඩි කොටසක් ඉඳහිට වෙරළ චාරිකා සහ සැහැල්ලු පාරවල් සහිත සාමාන්‍ය මාර්ග වේ. වලවල්, වේග බාධක, වාහන නැවැත්වීමේ සීමාවන් තියන අපේ පාරවල් වලට මොන ක්‍රමයද හරි යන්නේ? ආරක්ශාව තමයි මූලිකව තියෙන්න ඕනේ.

Their gear quality is excellent, staff knowledgeable, and they offer after-sales support. Been using their tent for 3 years without issues. Go Outdoors good for budget-conscious buyers but check quality carefully. Also consider AdventureLK and TentMaster for specific items. For water storage, get proper jerry cans from automotive suppliers rather than camping stores. My advice - buy once, buy right. Cheap gear fails when you need it most, especially in remote areas. Better spend extra now than get stuck with broken equipment!

Best spots would be Nine Arches Bridge area, Demodara Loop, few viewpoints near Ella. Challenge is timing - train schedule not always reliable. Better plan static photography sessions at key bridges rather than trying to race train. Contact railway authorities for permission to photograph near tracks. Also coordinate with Ceylon Tea Trails or similar tour operators who know the area well. This could become viral content showcasing both Defender capability and Sri Lankan scenic beauty together!

Last post by NuwanJayasinghe - Sep 12, 2025, 03:59 PMBro, I got my TD5 remapped by Vector Tuning last year and very happy with results! Got around 15-20% more power and torque, fuel economy improved by about 2km/l. They use proper diagnostic equipment and their tune is conservative, safe for daily use. Haven't tried VR Tuning but heard good things. Key is finding tuner who understands our fuel quality and climate conditions. Make sure they offer warranty and can reverse tune if problems. Stock TD5 is reliable but definitely benefits from proper remap. Just avoid aggressive tunes that stress engine components unnecessarily.

Start with empty car park basics - just getting feel for clutch and steering before any off-road work. Don't rush to technical stuff like diff locks immediately. Maybe find other couples who share vehicles, learn from their experience. Professional 4x4 driving course might be worth investment - neutral instructor, proper progression, no relationship stress! Main thing is patience and breaking down into small steps. Once she gets comfortable, she'll probably drive better than you! My wife now better at technical sections than me.
