Title: Strange Vibrations at 60km/h — Driveshaft?
Post by: HanishAlpha on Jul 05, 2025, 11:40 AM
Hi guys, facing a weird vibration between 55-65km/h. Smooth below that and after 70 it fades. Thought it was tyres, got them balanced. Still there.

Could this be a driveshaft issue? U-joints? Anyone faced something similar on a 200TDi Defender?

I had the same on my 110 — turned out to be worn U-joints on the rear prop shaft. Quick test: jack up one side and rotate manually, if there's any play, time to replace.

Ado, I had this exact same issue in my TD5 Defender, and it drove me mad for months It turned out to be a mix of small things that added up. Here's what you should check

Propshaft U-Joints (Cross Joints) This is usually the first suspect. The universal joints wear out and cause vibration at certain speeds. Even if there's no "clunk", the needle bearings inside might be dry or loose.
