Planning serious multi-day expedition to Northern Province and need to upgrade camping equipment. Currently using basic Chinese gear that won't survive rough conditions. Checked Scan Alpine in Colombo and Go Outdoors website - both seem to have decent selection. Scan Alpine been around since 1990 and claims premium quality, but prices higher. Go Outdoors has more variety online. Need proper tent, sleeping system, cooking gear, water storage. What's your experience with local outdoor gear suppliers? Quality vs price comparison?

Machan, Scan Alpine definitely premium option but worth investment for serious expeditions! Their gear quality is excellent, staff knowledgeable, and they offer after-sales support. Been using their tent for 3 years without issues. Go Outdoors good for budget-conscious buyers but check quality carefully. Also consider AdventureLK and TentMaster for specific items. For water storage, get proper jerry cans from automotive suppliers rather than camping stores. My advice - buy once, buy right. Cheap gear fails when you need it most, especially in remote areas. Better spend extra now than get stuck with broken equipment!
