Truth is – it depends on how well it's been looked after. Old Defenders (like 300TDi and TD5) are simple and reliable if serviced properly. But if you neglect them or buy one with bad history, they'll give you trouble for sure.
Puma models need more care with electronics. But overall, if you service regularly and don't abuse it, it's a solid ride. Just don't expect Japanese-level reliability, this is more about personality 😎
