Hi machan,

Today I removed my rear main seal to fit the new 2.8 type one with extra bottom screws. Old one was leaking badly. When I took it out, I saw some gunk or small corrosion on the crankshaft.

The part where the seal sits looks okay, but I'm not sure if it'll hurt the new seal when fitting. Little worried because these seals are very sensitive ne. Just want to know machan, is it okay to clean and use the same crank or better to replace it?

This engine won't run much maybe 15,000km in 10 years. I'm only doing timing belt and seal before fitting to the Defender.

Thanks machan
