  • How will 2026 Defender fare in Sri Lankan roads & market?

With changes expected in the 2026 Defender, I wonder how well the new model will adapt to Sri Lanka's roads, regulations, and market. Some questions on my mind:

  • Will the new suspension & chassis suit rough terrain, potholes, bad rural roads?
  • Will import duty / regulations accept the newer tech (emissions, hybrid, electrics)?
  • Will spare parts be available locally for the 2026 version?
  • Will the resale / collector demand for new-model Defenders be strong in Sri Lanka?

I'd love to hear from folks who import, repair, or modify Defenders in SL — your thoughts or experience forecasting this shift.

Yes
It is very likely that many spare parts for the 2026 Defender will become available locally, especially through the authorized dealer network (Access Motors) and established spare-parts importers like N H Piyasena and Sons, Green Oval etc. Parts covering maintenance, body/chassis, brakes, drivetrain etc. will likely be accessible over time. However, some newer components (hybrid/electric systems, advanced electronics, suspension/chassis updates) may have limited local availability at first, be more expensive, or require longer lead times until the supply chain fully adapts.
