If you're buying a used Defender, what should you inspect first? Things like the service history, suspension, gearbox, electronics, accident history, or anything else. Also, would you recommend buying from a dealer or a private seller? I'd appreciate any tips from owners who have been through the buying process.

Rule number one: Don't fall in love with the Defender before you've checked it properly! I almost did that. Check the service history first, then look underneath for leaks or rust, test the gearbox, and make sure all the electronics actually work. A shiny exterior can hide expensive problems. Personally, I'd buy from a private owner who has a full service history and clearly looked after the vehicle rather than just choosing the cheapest one. A pre-purchase inspection is worth every rupee it can save you a lot of money and headaches later!
