  • Driving My Dad’s 30-Year-Old Defender — Different Feeling Altogether

I've been using my dad's 30-year-old Defender for some time now, and honestly, driving an old Defender is a feeling modern vehicles can't really give.

Ours has a Puma engine conversion, so it has a nice balance of old-school Defender character with a bit more usable power and comfort. Even though the vehicle is old, it still feels solid and strong on the road. That heavy metal body, the driving position, the sound of the engine — everything feels raw and real.

Modern SUVs are smoother and easier to drive, but sometimes they feel too soft and disconnected. In the Defender, you actually feel the vehicle. Every gear change, every vibration, every sound becomes part of the experience 😄

Of course, owning an old Defender is not always easy. Small repairs and maintenance are part of the journey. But somehow that's also why people get attached to these vehicles. They have personality.

The best part is seeing how a 30-year-old machine is still surviving Sri Lankan roads better than some newer vehicles 😂 At the end of the day, driving old metal hits differently. It's not about luxury or technology — it's about character, memories, and the feeling behind the wheel. 👍
