  • Direct UK imports vs Local parts shops?🇬🇧🛠️

Hey guys! Ran into a major dilemma trying to track down a replacement clutch master cylinder for a Puma engine this week.
Checking around Panchikawatta, local shops are quoting crazy high prices for what looks like questionable aftermarket parts in branded boxes. I'm seriously considering just ordering directly from UK sites like Paddock Spares or John Craddock and handling the shipping myself.

For the guys who frequently import your own maintenance spares to Sri Lanka:
Is it actually cheaper once you factor in current air freight and local customs duties?
How long does standard sea cargo vs courier shipping take to clear Colombo port these days?

Would love to hear your experiences before I hit order. Drop your takes below!👇

Definitely import directly if you want genuine peace of mind! For critical parts like clutch cylinders, Panchikawatta is flooded with cheap copies that leak within months. Courier shipping via DHL takes just 4 to 5 days but tax can be unpredictable. If you aren't in a massive hurry, grouping a bunch of items into a sea cargo box takes about 4 to 6 weeks and saves you a ton of cash.
