Title: 1 year with my Defender- the good, the bad, and what I wish I knew before buying
Post by: ChamalLahiru on Jun 19, 2026, 03:34 PM
Hit the one year mark with mine last week, figured I'd share some honest thoughts for anyone considering one.
The good: handles rough roads like nothing else, gets way more attention than I expected, genuinely fun even on a normal commute.
The bad: fuel costs add up fast if you're not careful, and finding a mechanic who actually knows these properly took me three tries.

Does anyone else want to share their own experience, good or bad?

1 year with my Defender and no regrets! Great off-road capability, loads of character, and perfect for adventures. The downsides are fuel economy and maintenance costs, but the driving experience makes it worth it. My only wish is that I had budgeted for modifications from the start.

Bro congrats on the year mark🎉 Fuel costs hit different when you first see the monthly bill😭Same mechanic situation here, third guy finally knew what he was doing, first two were just guessing and charging. The road presence thing is real though, people genuinely move differently when they see it coming😂
