Thinking of getting into the Defender gang. What are the real pros and cons? Not the sales talk, but actual experience.

Owning a Defender is a unique experience — it's not just a vehicle, it's a lifestyle. Here's a quick breakdown from a Sri Lankan perspective:

✅ Pros:

Iconic Design: Whether it's the classic or new model, it always turns heads.

Unmatched Off-Road Capability: Ideal for rough terrain, mud, estates, and off-the-grid adventures.

Customizable: From roof racks to snorkels, the options are endless.

Strong Community: Defender owners tend to help each other — forums like this one prove that.

Durability: Built like a tank, especially the older models.

❌ Cons:

Fuel Consumption: It's not the most economical ride, especially the older diesels.

Maintenance Costs: Parts can be expensive and not always available locally.

Ride Comfort: Older Defenders can feel bumpy and basic inside.

Size & Manoeuvrability: In tight city roads or Colombo traffic, it can feel bulky.

Theft Risk: Sadly, it's a desirable target — so parking and security is a concern.
